As the pioneering hotel built on the Kohala Coast, the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel first opened in 1965 catering sweeping views of the clear blue oceanside. In 2006, restoration commenced after a devastating earthquake afflicted the Hawaiian Islands. The renovation included a complete overhaul and upgrade to the public areas, guest suites, clubhouse and landscapes without compromising the original architecture of the hotel.
