Centerbridge at Seagram Building

New York, New York

Client: Centerbridge Partners
Architect: LSM
Completion: 2017
LEED Gold®

LSM and FMS collaborated to provide an elegant, updated lighting solution for the Centerbridge office located within the landmarked, International style, Seagram Building. As part of the NYC Landmark Preservation requirements, the team had to maintain the iconic perimeter luminous ceilings, while meeting strict energy conservation constraints for the remaining spaces. Rich architectural materials and revised lighting details result in a space that impresses with a dramatic, crisp, and brightly lighted environment.

Components of the perimeter lightboxes were updated, resulting in improved quality of luminous lightbox surface, acoustical properties, and lightframe grid details. Existing technology was replaced with long life, energy efficient fluorescent T8 lamps, reducing the perimeter energy consumption by 20% and extending lamp life by 20,000 hours.

A strong asymmetric perimeter uplight scheme complements the vividly highlighted travertine walls, while discrete downlights provide supplemental task illumination throughout the open office plan. Daylight is balanced with the interior luminous surfaces to provide a dramatic setting for a commissioned artwork in glass and reflected light by Spencer Finch.
