House on Lake Michigan

Chicago, Illinois

Architect: Robert A.M. Stern Architects
Interior Design: Victoria Hagan Interiors
Landscape Architect: Hoerr Schaudt Landscape Architects
Completion: 2007

Located on Chicago’s North Shore, this 16,000 square-foot house is evocative of the estate homes that were common along Lake Michigan in the 1920s and 30s; but equipped with state-of-the-art technology for 21st century living.

In collaboration with Robert AM Stern and Victoria Hagan, FMS developed fully integrated lighting solutions throughout the interior and out into the landscape. By combining traditional decorative chandeliers, sconces, and lamps with discreet, high performance, supplemental sources, the crisp, bright, cheerful spaces envisioned by the homeowners were achieved; and at the touch of a button transformed into cozy, intimate, warm rooms using sophisticated yet intuitive dimming controls.

The end result is formal, yet flexible and family friendly.
