Marquee at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada

Client: Tao Group
Design Architect: Rockwell Group
Architect of Record: Friedmutter Group
Theatrical Consultant: Fisher Dachs Associates
Completion: 2010

The $60 million Marquee, designed by architect David Rockwell, is stunning and eccentric proof that Las Vegas is the city of the spectacular. Located within the Cosmopolitan Hotel, the 62,000 square foot club is a mixture of vogue architectural design, interactive technologies and impressive entertainment lighting delivering a unique, fresh experience for adventurous visitors – a tonic against a predictable night out.

The club features three levels: the main dance floor with three offshoot bars, the plush upper-tier Library, and the Boom Box area below, each with its own stylistic flair. Collaboration among specialty consultants was integral to completing this fast-paced, kinetic project that included moving light pods, a sparkling and caged mirror ball, combined with digital content from a massive 30’x 32’ LED mesh video wall. Color-changing architectural lighting elements were added to create depth and richness to the club’s special effects. In the adjacent bars and seating areas, lighting hues reveal a more intimate, seductive ambiance to balance the high-energy feel of the central space. As the only acceptable entrance, Marquee was unveiled on New Year’s Eve 2010.
