Mass Transit Railway Corporation (MTRC) Tseung Kwan O Extension Line

The Tseung Kwan O Extension (TKE) is the 6th train line of the MTRC’s Operating Railway, and serves developing areas in the Kowloon section of Hong Kong. FMS designed lighting systems for 5 new train stations, 2 existing refurbished stations, and a new state of the art train depot.

The project began with the preparation of a unique and detailed lighting strategies report, defining exact lighting design objectives and criteria. Energy efficient, low cost and easy to maintain lighting solutions are seamlessly integrated within the architectural systems. The lighting design sought to provide a bright and inviting environment that complements the crisp modern architectural environment. FMS worked with a different design team of architects and engineers on each station and served as lighting project managers, reporting team progress to the MTRC, identifying problems and helping to keep the projects on budget and on schedule. FMS conducted a detailed survey and documentation of the final installation prior to the opening of the new line. Each station was followed through to commissioning.
