Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines (RCCL) Voyager of the Seas, La Scala Theater

Miami, Florida

Client: Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines (RCCL)
Architect: Wilson Butler Lodge
Theatre Consultant: Fisher Dachs Associates
Acoustician: Jaffe Holden Acoustic
Completion: 1999

The 1350 seat “La Scala Theater” aboard the RCCL Voyager of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, was inspired by 19th century European opera halls and combines a traditional horseshoe shape with a full balcony and orchestra. With its four deck high fly loft and state-of-the art stage equipment, this fully equipped theater provides a venue for Broadway style entertainment.

The focal point of the theater is a three deck high, fiber optic and neon illuminated domed ceiling, culminating in a custom designed Venetian glass chandelier. Matching custom glass sconces ring the balcony fronts and perimeter walls.
