University of Michigan North Quadrangle Residential and Academic Complex

Ann Arbor, Michigan

Design Architect: Robert A.M. Stern Architects
Executive Architect: EYP Architecture & Engineering
Completion: 2010
LEED® Certified™

The North Quadrangle accommodates 360,000 square feet of offices and meeting rooms for various academic departments, classrooms, laboratories, residential suites for students, dining, and social spaces on a tight urban site at the University of Michigan. It blends student life and academic spaces in flexible and innovative ways, providing improved facilities for living and learning, while showcasing the university’s commitment to sustainability.

The architect vision was to create a special blend Collegiate Gothic and the Arts & Crafts style to uniquely identify the campus. The lighting fixtures were carefully selected to accentuate various elements: deep red brick, stone and slate, to shape arcades of flattened arches and grand engaged colonnades.
