Kevin Frary
Principal | Seattle Studio Leader

Mr. Frary has always been fascinated by architecture. His interest in lighting design was sparked while studying at University of Colorado. His professor’s passion, energy and enthusiasm for lighting was contagious. Kevin came to understand light was a powerful tool that when used as integral architectural material could reveal architecture and create beautiful luminous environments.
Lighting design is part art, part science. Kevin’s education gave him a strong foundation of the technical aspects and physics of light and a robust understanding of how it plays in three dimensions and interacts with architecture and materials. The designer in Kevin loves making things; the engineer loves solving the challenges presented by each unique project. Kevin has over 20 years of experience spanning projects of all scales, from civic and cultural projects to corporate and mixed-use work – both domestically and internationally.
After several years in New York, Kevin and his wife moved to Seattle in 2006 where they now live on a houseboat on Lake Union. Traveling, cooking, playing soccer and golf, and paddling their hand-built kayaks tends to occupy any free time.
