Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA)

Austin, Texas

Client: City of Austin
Architect: Gensler
Completion: 2019
LEED Gold®

The 175,000-square-foot extension will also provide 19,000 square-feet of concessions, outbound baggage handling, airline offices and additional passenger amenities—including a large outdoor observation deck and pet spaces. Concurrent improvements and upgrades across the terminal will enhance the entirety of the passenger experience.
The winning design for the new terminal is inspired by the traditional Texas Dance Halls. FMS designed the lighting for the main concourse to be seamlessly integrated into the imposing truss system. Custom designed fixtures appear to be part of the roof structure, allowing light and architecture to become one.
