Brown Rudnick
Designed for a growing international law firm, this Washington, DC workplace prioritizes collaboration, movement, and visual comfort. Layered ambient illumination, perimeter-integrated lighting, and modeled diffuse luminous ceilings create a calm, glare-controlled experience while intuitively guiding circulation across shared and private zones. Lighting concepts are seamlessly crafted to work within compressed floors, creatively weaving articulation and play of shadow and light to provide perception of volume. Lighting is fully integrated with the architecture to support clarity, discretion, and focus typical of legal practice.
City exterior views were fundamental; electric lighting was designed to maintain consistent illumination where necessary with careful consideration and balance of luminance from daylit enhanced spaces. Accent lighting at art pieces and at key architectural moments add depth and promote material richness, resulting in a refined, welcoming environment that supports both client engagement and confidential work.
