Colby College Museum of Art was founded in 1959 and is one of the nation’s premier institutions of American art. The museum consists of five wings with more than 38,000 square-feet of exhibition space and over 8,000 works of art in all media. The Colby collection specializes in contemporary American art with additional collections of works on paper, Chinese antiquities and European paintings. The Museum serves as a teaching resource for Colby College and is a major cultural destination for the residents of Maine and visitors to the state.
FMS designed the lighting for the new galleries, classrooms, studios and the three-story, glass enclosed stairwell wall mural by Sol LeWitt.
