Edition Hotel Clock Tower

New York, New York

Client: Ian Schrager / Marriott International
Architect: Adamson Associate Architects
Project Manager: Faithful & Gould
Completion: 2015

For over a hundred years, the tower of the New York Edition Hotel, formerly home to the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, has been part of the New York City skyline. FMS was engaged to upgrade the exterior lighting system, enhance and accentuate the unique tower. The resulting nighttime lighting scheme introduces new technologies while incorporating and refurbishing existing light fixtures where appropriate. FMS created something distinctive emphasizing the hotel as a key architectural element in the city. As part of the lighting program mandate, FMS was asked to minimize any light intruding into those guest rooms located in the tower’s upper floors.
