Martinsburg Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse

Martinsburg, West Virginia

Client: General Services Administration (GSA)
Interior Architect: LSM
Completion: 2002

Delving into the rich past of a historic West Virginia town, the designers of the Martinsburg Federal Building have restored the building to its original prominence on the city’s Main Street. The Martinsburg project includes a graphic and exhibit program designed to help people who use the courthouse reconnect with the area’s past.

Glass panels combining patriotic imagery and memorable quotations make the courthouse more welcoming and better connected to its public purpose. It is easy to imagine a visitor being inspired by this space.
