Mr. Hemmenway quickly realized after a few youthful experiments on stage, that his real passion was for the design and technical side of live performance. Lighting is the combination of art and science, and he became enthralled with this ephemeral medium and its unique ability to express and transform our shared environment and inspire emotional response. Later explorations of art history, architecture, and photography lead to his career.
His background includes theatrical design and construction, architecture, and photography.
He is an avid traveler who loves to experience and explore different places, cultures, and built environments. The seaside and the unique and moving experiences of light and darkness experienced by the ocean provides inspiration. Michael is a lover of live performance and the shared emotional experience of audience.
