Zachary Pearson
Designer

Like a moth, Mr. Pearson has always been drawn to light. As a toddler, chasing fireflies at dusk and as a teen, creating elaborate Holiday light displays that drew spectators and were probably visible from outer space. Perhaps because light, a scientific phenomenon, is also a magical entity that can transform an environment, illicit a reaction, incite wonder, and draw people together. Zachary’s desire to enhance people’s experiences with light led him to assist with Beyond Appearances, a study in color perceptions of metameric sources. He was one of the primary technical designers of Breathing Lights, a multi-city art installation. Zachary’s light art and illusioneering have been exhibited at the Tang Museum, the Hyde Collection and, internationally, at the Florence Biennale of Contemporary Art. He designed and established the light festival, Winter Lumify, in Troy, NY.
Zachary attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Architecture and a Masters in Lighting Design from the Lighting Research Center. Recipient of the IES NYC Merit Scholarship, he also studied in Argentina, Chile, Canada, France and the Netherlands. Prior to joining FMS, Zachary designed and actualized resorts, attractions, and entertainment experiences around the world for premier theme park companies.
Award winning choreographer and actor, Zachary enjoys sharing his love of theater by mentoring youth programs and offering master classes. Offstage, if he is not metalsmithing, designing textiles and costumes, studying horology, or tinkering with animatronics, you may catch him on the ballroom dance floor as a silver level competitor.
