Zehra Dulgeroglu
Designer
Having grown up in Turkey, Ms. Dulgeroglu earned her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. With a strong foundation in both Architecture and Graphic Design, Zehra believes that good design is a form of storytelling. She approaches architecture experientially, considering how atmosphere, perception, and movement shape the ways spaces are experienced.
Throughout Zehra’s studies, light became central to her design process. She was consistently drawn to how light reveals form, shapes mood, and guides attention to architectural details. She likes exploring the interplay of natural and artificial light to create layered spatial experiences, often treating light as her favorite material. Zehra often used light to bring clarity and meaning to her academic projects. She also developed a commitment to the principles of sustainable design with particular attention to environmental performance and the thoughtful integration of daylight.
Initially, Zehra interned at FMS, where she connected deeply with the firm’s responsive and intentional approach to lighting design. She is especially interested in civic and cultural projects, and in creating environments that feel alive, purposeful, and meaningfully connected to the people who experience them.
Outside the office, Zehra maintains an active and vibrant creative practice – painting and sketching. She is also passionate about photography, observing and capturing atmosphere through imagery – often sunsets, space, stars, and the moon. Her visual interests extend to cinema and theatre – in particular, visually driven dystopian/whimsical films and Broadway productions – where set design and lighting play a central role in shaping narrative and emotion. Zehra enjoys traveling, visiting museums and gardens, and exploring cafés and bakeries with friends and family.
