Growing up in Albany, New York, Mr. Lombardi listened to stories of his grandfather’s work on the development of the master plan for the campus of SUNY Albany. As soon as he could walk, Michael was building things and had already developed an interest in architecture and design.

Michael studied Architectural Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University, and earned an Architecture Studies minor in Rome. Starting his professional career at FMS, Michael returned to the studio in 2025 and has nearly 20 years of experience spanning projects of all scales, from civic, cultural, mixed use, residential and retail assignments – domestically and overseas. The many projects he worked on include the Miho Chapel in Japan with I.M. Pei Architect, and the redevelopment of the World Trade Center including Calatrava’s Oculus. Michael is passionate about lighting and integrates light within the architecture, creating a seamless effect that is understated and dramatic.

Michael is committed to mentoring and volunteering in his free time. He has served as Chair for the City of West Hollywood Planning Commission, the Sunset Arts and Advertising Subcommittee, and the West Hollywood Design Review Subcommittee. His strong appreciation for design and the urban environment is balanced by escaping into nature and travel. He’s an avid downhill skier and tennis player. He’s been known to seek out snowy slopes in the middle of the summer.
