Ms. Mentes grew up in Georgia and South Carolina, as the eldest child in a military family. Her mother was an art teacher who nurtured and encouraged her children’s creativity. Leanna took every art class she could possibly squeeze into her schedule while at the University of South Carolina before graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health. Leanna moved to New York to be closer to family. Her past professional experience includes working as a Teaching Assistant in Statistics at Hunter College/CUNY and in the restaurant industry, where she collaborated with chefs on menus, presentation, and ordering.

Before coming to FMS, Leanna moved into a fixer-upper apartment in Brooklyn with abysmal lighting. After replacing a few bulbs and swapping out ceiling fixtures, the space transformed, her “home went from harsh to cozy,” and Leanna “really felt the power of light.” When Leanna is not in the office, she’s engaged in all sorts of creative activities and always has a project underway. She loves playing trivia, chatting with good friends at a coffee shop, and crocheting. Leanna enjoys traveling, rock climbing, slacklining, hiking, and keeping active! Leanna is a huge fan of the TV show “Survivor” and hopes to be on it one day!
