Anne Rainbow Savage
Senior Designer
Ms. Savage is an award-winning lighting designer and architect with twenty-five years of experience. She received a Master of Science in Public Policy + Management and a Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Certificate in Integrated Lighting Design from the University of Washington. She has served as studio head, project manager and lead lighting designer for commercial, multifamily residential, sports venues, retail, higher education, healthcare, landscape, exterior public spaces, and transportation projects prior to joining FMS. Anne believes that collaboration is essential to success. She brings to each project a conceptual framework and rigorous design approach that enhance the experiential qualities of lighting in the built environment, balanced by functionality, and fortified by technical knowledge. She utilizes hand sketched details, building on a comprehensive understanding of how materials come together, to foster seamless integration of lighting and architecture.
For Anne, lighting has always been the most enriching aspect of architecture. Light animates the built environment, gives form to space, reveals the texture of materials and allows us to experience the visual as tactile. The exciting challenge of lighting design is to communicate the context that empowers our perception of light and dark.
As a child, Anne was uncomfortable with the middle name Rainbow. Now, she loves that Rainbow illustrates the visible spectrum of light. Anne adores urban sketching and exploring the diverse neighborhoods of New York City. She is passionate about travel and rowing, which she enjoys with her husband Vikram.
